Not a bad "feel-good" movie. A little corny at times, but the cast has a lot of charm and has some great visual moments.

Same coming of age story, different ethnic group. This gives it a modest freshness

Music is great. The real life story from the 80's still rings true to today. A life lesson on young growing pains, in the face of racial intolerance, family and cultural bias.

It's a feel good movie, and the use of music was pretty good compared to many other music-centric movie. But overall, the movie was just OK and had some overly cheesy stuff
