Tonally off. I did not read the book but I heard several folks in the crowd mention that the aspects of the story that made them love the book was not present in the film.

An offensive depiction of alcoholism within a moderately entertaining plot that lacked both depth and novelty.

I thought the A-list cast was a crutch for a film that easily could have introduced unknown actors/actresses without distracting from the overall story. It looked good; the pace was slow. The soundtrack could have been improved upon. It just didn't "work" with the hype for the book following (yes I understand a book/film are different mediums-- the fan following could have been more advantageous

Excellent performance by Woody Harrelson, however, the movie as a whole fell short. The over-use of flashbacks without a real plot made for an OK, but bit tiresome movie.
