Serious story, serious cast, unbelivably good.

Compelling story and fantastic cast! This film captures the plight of a struggling family and the desperate nature of the times and community. The film also brilliantly highlights the racial and judicial injustice that plagued Detroit during that time, while developing the characters as real people worth rooting for despite their criminal tendencies. Definitely an award contender!

Incarceration is always a sad ending to supposedly a good thing. Crime never pays no matter who disagrees.
