Danielle Macdonald delivered a terrific performance as well as every actor/ actress in the movie. The character are complex and move forward the story. Even though it's a common story, the characters makes this film unique and the rap songs are really good. I hope Fox invest more money in marketing because this film deserves better.

This movie was wonderful

It's really amazing. I know it'll get dismissed at Lady 8 Mile, but it's so much more layered. I'm a huge fan of 8 Mile, being a Detroit transplant. That movie doesn't have any of the various personal relationships that Patti Cake$ has. The mother-daughter relationship in this is so complicated and well done. I can't wait to own this on Bluray when it comes out.
