What a beautiful film. The colors, the costuming, the music, the plot twists and turns. It’s a lovely thing to see Black people just being Black people, especially in a period piece, the history was there but it wasn’t the focus, which was nice to see, us just living, like humans do. Tessa Thompson is a force, truly.

The costumes, the production design, the writing, the music and the performances in this film transport you to a time and place of yesteryear while still being progressive and modern. Tessa Thompson was perfect in every way. I didn't want it to end. Highly recommended.

A sweet romantic love story. Like the time period and the music. Predictable but that what made it sweet. Like that Sylvia from a well-to-do family, part of a middle/upper class Black society. And that Robert, raised in the Brewster Projects in Detroit was educated, well mannered and determined to do what he loved. Just a sweet story we especially for current times. Showed the attitude and treatment of Blacks at that time without that being the main focus. Both Mona and Sylvia were part of the Civil Rights movement to know what they could do and be. Enjoyed it.
