This movie shows the path of a courageous woman's journey away from dysfunctional parents.You also see how the children keep their bond to advance into a better way of life.

Very relatable topics of family dysfunction, alcoholism, and sibling bonds prevail. It's hard to imagine that it was based on a true story. Reminiscent of an Oprah Book Club pick.

I thought some of the characters were well written but could have been explored further. It was art film like meaning that the narrative structure was secondary to character development. I liked Rex but didn't necessarily like that the mother was not well developed in the film. There were too many characters leaving things desired in the film.
