I wanted to like this movie because I was fascinated to learn about Marie Curie, but it was not directed well. It was SUCH a goofy movie.

With such a powerful backdrop, the film felt disjointed in its editing which prevented thorough engagement. It felt more as though we were watching several trailers within a movie. I understand wanting to do something different, but I believe the director (or editor) tried to do too much in terms of style (trying to fit it all in) rather than letting the story be center stage. As a result, we could not engage with the characters. The dialogue also seemed weak. All regrettably, as I really wanted the film to be great.

somewhat dark and eerie yet masterful

Surely there could’ve been a subtler way to introduce the future ramifications of the discovery of radioactivity. The film attempted, and failed, to straddle an adult drama and a schoolroom lesson in physics.
