Almost completely different from the book, yet it works perfectly.

I didn't have high expectations because of the book. But I was blown away. The movie had just enough references to fulfill many generations of nostalgia and that was probably the best part of it. It was not overwhelmed with well known actors and had a diverse group. I didn't have the best seat in the theater but the movie still captured my complete attention despite that.

What a rush! Tightly written and action-filled with themes of friendship and being in the “now.” Lots of references to pop culture of the 80’s and funny one-liners. You can see Ernest Cline’s (author) hand in the screenplay and dialogue. Go see it - more than once!!
