You don't always get to see so many nuances of the deaf community. I found the story and characters to be completely compelling.

the story was OK, high point was Ruben giving back to the kids and concession on learning to sign. I personally would have loved for the audience to move away from that with more than maybe knowing face, cheering and complex nature of acceptance. Low portion the Movie seems to twist upon a notion that heroin and other vices were needed to make sense of the Music genre or place Lou took him and he commits to.\rThe implants and audio to represent it seemed rather forced thru as well, more attention to this and how its no walk in the park would have been good.... visually the movie does well.

Gave awareness to loosing one's hearing, the grieving process, and assistive technology. Needed to provide more information about cochlear implants eligibility and realistic expectations over time. Appreciated hearing loss simulations and cochlear implant simulation.
