What I saw of the film was great but the screening link kept reloading and pausing so I'll have to finish it at a later time :(

A classy, beautiful & romantic period (1950s-1960s) movie amid fantastic music scores. It dealt with serious issues such as racial and class conflicts with a soft touch. The movie oozed nostalgia and sensibility but still felt believable. Good acting, cinematography and costumes all around.

I enjoyed watching this love story unfold. The story was a little slow in the beginning but by the middle I was into it. The cast was also pleasant to watch.

SYLVIE'S LOVE is a fresh take on the best of the Technicolor romantic dramas of the 1950s-60s. What holds it above mere nostalgia is the tasteful un-whitewashing of the genre. Thompson and Asomugha headline an emsemble representation of middle-to-upper class African American life, with oblique references to the emerging Civil Rights Movement. The drama and romance are elevated by the jazz savvy R&B soundtrack. This ia a genuine bon bon to savor. Unmarred LACMA screening.
