The film suffers from a severe and unnecessary and disproportionate tone shift 3/4 through with the death of the male writer. It is so jarring and so awkwardly handled that it ruins the film. The movie feels much longer than its actual length and that is because it has several endings. End the movie with the writer living and the couple seeing the finished product and then joining to write more. Instead of a happy ending for the next film, give it to this one. The film up to the point of the male writer's death is not congruently dramatic enough to carry the weight of such a heavy and freakish accident. It might be different it there had been a bombing and the writer was killed by that; but for a set scaffold to come crashing on him is almost laughable.

It was depictive of a British film, so it was successful in that accomplishment. Like the movie stated, the US doesn't appreciate British film. Movie was slow and hard to hear some of the lines but it did make me laugh and cry.
