It was good except when it got silly.

Exactly what you'd expect it to be - moderately amusing and even entertaining, but terribly generic and deeply problematic. Just because you call out the sexist double standard of your only female character's wardrobe doesn't make it okay to exploit later. The Rock does a decent job of deconstructing his own iconic figure and Jack Black gets to have a lot of fun embracing his feminine side, but Kevin Hart just does his rapidly tiring schtick and doesn't actually play a character.

Two too many inappropriate adult humor scenes make this film unsuitable for the general audience it is marketed towards. I was disappointed overall. I expected the characters to develop more and the game to have glitches. The story line left too many unanswered questions as well. What happened to the person who built the tree house that Alex was living in? And, how did he get kicked out back into the past?

My husband & I had seen screenings the following week of Ferdinand & The Greatest Showman and those were both great. So I guess we expected Jumanji to be on the same level and it wasn't. It was kind of cheesy. There were some funny parts but it could have been a lot better. Kevin Hart made the film for me. Every time he said something I laughed just because I think his voice is funny. I also thought Dwayne Johnson did a good job in the film and looked hot. I think this movie is mostly for teens
