My wife and I both REALLY enjoyed this movie, and left the cinema with a warm feeling of fulfillment.Being a story bred in fantasy and science fiction, I feel that there is quite a bit of license taken in the realism of the time setting. I had to ask myself if those were actually the cars and clothing styles that would readily be found 18 years in the future. However... sliding myself into the role of the film's target audience, it would be readily relatable to, and appropriate for a younger teenager. Only one "goof" stood out as implausible to me, and that's the fact that a biplane crashed into a barn, causing a massive fiery explosion with a helicopter nearby, but in the next shot there's already an investigation team on the ground with large parts of biplane distinctly visible. The helicopter then lands to find the investigation well underway. Why did they wait so long to land, and why weren't the biplane and barn completely detroyed as were depicted in the previous shot? Also, Earth's gravity was too much for Gardner's heart, but how many Gs was his body subjected to in the launches to leave earth's orbit for the escape, and for his return to Mars?Kendra was buying a huge house in the mountains for her and Tulsa to live in together, but then she was in charge of NASA's training facility, with Tulsa as a student. Does Nasa have a training facility way out there?Overall though, and these few minor technical observations aside... WOW!! The story was very well thought out, and the characters were very believable. I could easily put myself in Gardner's shoes, and fall in love with Tulsa as the adventurous, resourceful, and absolutely beautiful girl that she is. I am looking forward to their reunion on Mars almost as much as they are!!Thank you for sharing this wonderful experience with us!
