Very good period piece. Would recommend it to anyone who likes jazz, or anyone who is into romances. But I thought the ending lacked some drama. The man should have said something like, "I work in an auto assembly plant. I can't be the man you deserve." Then when she mentioned not being able to be happy without him, he could have said something like "Even a lowly blue collar worker?" and she could have answered in the affirmative. Also she could have been a little more surprised when she learned of his job. "You mean an actual auto assembly plant?" Still, a very good film.

Good period piece. It is a movie that takes be back to when I watched Doris Day movies on TV as a little girl. Realistic portray of African-American women given opportunities that were not allowed for African-American men. The clothes were authentic!
