This movie made me feel very uncomfortable. It's a movie that tries to subvert your expectations by making the wicked stepmother a sympathetic villain with a tragic back history of not following her dreams and pouring all of her hurt on to Cinderella and making the king the villain in disguise. It really harps on modern-day gender rules in this ancient tale and crucifies the thinking of the male characters for Not being progressive minded people.. It's a movie I would not show my maturing nephew in fears that it would negatively impact his thinking.
