For every "White Boy Rick" there is 30 "Black Boy Mike". We know plenty of them. Circumstances and poverty creating business skills, only being utilized in situational survival. Throwing in the mix, authoritative abuse of power, that cripples dreams, aspirations and possibilities, only allowing dysfunctional generational cycles to continue to fester and grow. Unfortunately, many know this story too well and when the dust settles, another child is sacrificed just for wanting more out of life.

Great first half of a film - Engaging character development and fascinating story line. I was fully hooked. The second half grew dull however, and I just awaited the ending.

The performances were great. Mathew McConaughey did really well. In every new movie that comes out he proves that he became a great actor. Richie Merritt did also a great job. The main problem of the movie is that it attains a climax way before the end with White Boy Rick being shot and after that it is just a telling of his story with some small scenes. The movie lingers in some moments that don't further the story and at the same time you get the feeling that there is something missing.

The movie dragged out and didn’t keep my interest. The story was moving because it was based on true life experiences but it failed in its execution...
