It's a great movie to have kids to watch. The message is great for kids and very touching.

It was a very heartwarming and inspiring movie. The one thing which would have made it significantly better would be for it to have been "based on" the life of a real little boy rather than merely "inspired by" someone whom the author saw at an ice cream store. As far as I can tell, Auggie's life was purely fictional, simply what R.J. Palacio conceived that his life might have been.
