The movie began strong but the plot lost sight of the story line and the humor was not witty.

Being a fan of the source material, I thought this was a really weak adaptation that would have benefitted from a director who knew how to balance the conflicting horror and comedy tones. For being a pastiche of 80s media and after-school specials, it did not engage with any of that in a meaningful way, and it’s stylistically blander for it. I’m also not totally sure who the audience is meant to be for this, since it’s a little too icky for the standard teen but a little too cutesy for an adult horror fan. Tried to be too many things and did most of them poorly. Also, CGI monster fight why?
