Incredible acting from Olivia Colman. Plot is a bit wandering but beautifully filmed.

A nostalgic bitte4rsweet snow globe water ball of slice of life during the tumultuous domestic life under Thatcherite UK lensed with stunning architectural acuity & a grounded sense of place. Performances by the ensemble cast was top-notch. File with Cinema Paradiso & Purple Rose of Cairo..

Must see film about a dying art form, the type of film which focuses on the stories of everyday people. The Empire Cinema is symbol of that glorious yet endangered art form, with its glitz and glamorous art deco architecture slowly decaying, getting older. The ensemble cast is terrific, with special nod to Olivia Colman’s performance as the theater manager and Toby Jones as the Projectionist.
