Cute artsy film. I gave it a 3 stars because I missed a large portion of it...subtitles that are yellow and white are very hard to read. Missed most of what his mother was saying.

Fine music.

The film wasn't bad, but wasn't great - shining moments and a lot of potential. The dancing and music, when so integrated, should be really memorable/irresistible, but wasn't. Camila Mendes shined and gave the best performance, while JB Smoove was dependable as always. A lot of the film felt like an ego stroke for Rudy. The full scene rip from Mrs. Doubtfire was apparent, though the addition of the keyboard player made the scene a little better. Overall, the film was okay and I'm saddened 'cause I'm from Newark.

The story was okay but I feel like it needed more. I really liked how Rudy broke down how he sees/hears the world through rhythm.
