I struggled to understand the movie. The concept is laid out via conversation in the beginning and you are with the characters; and are excited as to what happens next when he is to depart. Where the wheels fall off; is the bizarre interviews start.Despite an attempt at being explained, it loses the audience completely. There are also scenes that had no place at all.The cinematography, characters, acting, and casting are all good. The script, plot, sequence of events; so much . Soon as movie ended people looked around at each other and said ( I have no idea what that was about !)

Slow burn, my attention sometimes wandered. The script seemed to plod along. The performances were good, but, man, this was depressing. I understand that it's meant to point up the destruction of the earth via climate change, and the concurrent destruction of human relationships amidst the turmoil of same, but I found myself looking at my watch. I was, happily, shocked by the big reveal, which then made me even more depressed. I would recommend this solely for the performances (and Paul Mescal's bum - yes, I'm being shallow).

While this show has great potential, great acting and good casting, I find it to be... simply boring. Half of the first episode I am stuck trying to find out who is related to who. Once I have that sorted out, then there seem to be very few powerful and meaningful statement scenes. Let's not even talk about the lack of ethnic diversity. All in all I think the show could be excellent but not as is.
