Unlike the original 1959 version with Charlton Heston this 2016 version was more of a Gladiator/Chariot Rider than a religious man. He mentioned his faith belief in God in Heaven a couple times, but not like in the original. Since this was based on a Novel which used the same Judah Ben-Hur from the Holy Bible it gave only hints of a Biblical Story.

OK, not great - story a bit unfocused and the filming itself (especially in the action scenes) jittery. That was somewhat balanced by decent acting.

This remake of Ben Hur was ok and good within itself, but in no way ranks better than the story and action of the chariot race and acting ability that starred Charleston Heston and Stephen Boyd.

The action was a little too close-up for me. Good performances all around though.
