This is a deep movie... worth seeing... but requiring further thought

Moving story putting you in the world of the deaf. Well acted, too.

This movie makes me appreciate my sense of hearing. Ruben is a drummer for a touring rock band. He realizes he lost his hearing. His girl friend, Lou, talks him into going to a school for the deaf. We watch as he learns sign language, interacts with other students and learns about his disability. Is there an operation to fix his hearing? How can he pay for it? Can he go back to his band? Will he finally accept that he is deaf? Watch and listen to this movie based on a true story.

A simple human story elevated by a closer look at the deaf experience and the complications of a history of addiction. Ahmed and the sound design made a two hour run time feel very lived in and the movie invaded me emotionally well into the following day.
