Drippy and totally undramatic.

Though I loved the 1980's references, the storyline falls flat. The characters are not very likeable and the acting is subpar which is to be expected from a low-budget film. It was a corny teen movie that unnecessarily pokes fun out of the Christian faith. Though I am not one to be easily offended, but I am sick and tired that Christianity today all too often is mocked. The problem here is that more filmmakers & outlets need Jesus.

Does not do Grady Hendrix's book justice in capturing the power of Gretchen and Abby's friendship, or showing the toxic effects of patriarchal culture in the South. Needed the flashbacks building A & G's relationship. Story is weak without it. Also not sure why they switched the Evangelical environment from the book to Catholic. This book takes place in South Carolina, not New England.

It's a'lil to 'B' movie for me & predictable.
