Very serious flick, with mostly sad story line. A few laughs along the way but don't expect a happy ending. Decent acting. Fair cinematography.

It was intriguing and the added interest of it being a true story held my attention even thru the slow middle of the movie. Very well acted by all especially Matthew McConaughey. The time period was also very well represented by the fashion, music and scenery. I would definitely recommend this movie to others. I wish the movie would have been edited to not feel so slow in the middle. Other than that it was a solid film.

I felt that White Boy Rick was a film that was beautifully shot -- some gorgeous cinematography in there -- backed with standout performances from every actor involved. But at the end of the day, it seemed to be biting off a bit more than it could chew. When the film focuses on the father-son element, it really seemed to be in its territory, but as for the rest of the film, too many subplots (and characters) spoiled the broth.

Sets in the 1980s were well done. The dad's acting was the best. Overall a good movie with a good message delivered.
