It's a solid "live action" adaptation of the original. It doesn't bring anything new to the franchise, however. It's almost a line-for-line copy of the original. Which isn't a bad thing, since the original was a good movie itself.

Entertaining movie. It may be too long for young kids under 8. I heard so many younger ones running around rather than sitting still. Honestly, the less one star was actually for Gerard Butler’s performance. It’s like he didn’t even read the script. Or read it the night before. I think it’s a good live action portrayal of the animation.

I watched it with my daughters, my oldest who watched the original when she was little loved it, it reminded her of the animated one all the time. We enjoyed it.
