As Detective Pikachu was to movie adaptations of video games, In The Heights was to movie adaptations of stage musicals. That is to say, not a perfect movie, but thoroughly enjoyable and mostly respectful to the source.

I believe it was great and really captures what it means to be a hard-working citizen that comes from outside the country.

In The Heights is a representation of the hard work, dedication, and passion Hispanic & Latinos in America have. This movie showed the struggle and strengths of a immigrant population in America and as a first generation Hispanic college student it pulled at my heart strings and made me feel a huge sense of pride to be Latina. Thank you for finally sharing our peoples stories.

It’s a joyous celebration of home, and it celebrates and leans in to being a MUSICAL. Make more movies like this, please!
