It’s all about Phoenix’s performance

The acting, music and cinematography were great. However, the first half of the movie really dragged. Pacing was off.

It was fine. Joaquin Phoenix did a great job, however it was clearly a film that was trying to push a social commentary of mental health awareness which is important but when placed with a character like the joker the message gets construed into something else.I think that this would be a better movie if unconnected to an iconic character - an original character would have made it more empatheti

It was a mess and a bit pointless, but this movie is really about the collapse of the social safety net, the class divide and how the most vulnerable population are often left to their own device. It's a confused, but fascinating film. I'd recommend for Joaquin Phoenix's excellent performance.
