Great debut film for director/writer Eddie Huang that tackles cultural issues and mixes it with a familiar narrative of the aspiring pro sports dream that the family is built around. \r\rIt's great to see such different character types portrayed in the Asian diaspora and I look forward to Huang's future films.

Good story; I didn't think the acting was as compelling especially by the main actor. His best friend and parents were very good. I like the Asian American history lessons. Many Chinese and other Asian dramas have open ended endings. As an immigrant from Hong Kong, I'm used to that, but I'm not sure American audiences would like that. Overall, I would recommend it.

It was immersive. I was impressed with the acting and directing. I also appreciated that it was only about 90 minutes. My least favorite part was the Mandarin with subtitles.
