A too-long book poorly translated to a too-long movie. While the acting was stupendous and the cinematography gorgeous, character motivations were never explained, and too much of the plot turned on ridiculous coincidence.

The movie was slow and long. Just read the book.

Not what I expected

It could’ve been an interesting film if they cut about half of it out. Absolutely zero reason to be 150 minutes long. Just trying to be artsy and cerebral for the sake of being artsy and cerebral.
