The Shape of Water is sweet, beautiful and now easily one of my favorite love stories. The film has a heart, that it proudly wears on its sleeve, and big as any ocean. It also contains a scene, that took be by complete surprise, that warmed my heart, and brought tears to my eyes, in a way that hasn't happened in a movie in yearsz10/10 - My highest possible recommendation.

The Shape of Water was excellent. It was a beautiful, simple, but powerful story, told effectively without overt/gaudy exposition. The special/visual effects were understated and tasteful. The aesthetic of the film harkened back to the early scientific romances of the Victorian Era and art nouveau, combined with the cool stylings of the1960s and Cold War era paranoia. Perhaps Del Toro's best.
