It's great to see Asians play prominent roles. So many more of their stories need to be told via movies.

I was pleasantly surprised by this movie. I really enjoyed the different layers to it. Much more than a basketball movie. The pressures of senior year and the decisions you need to make. As a Librarian, I really liked the scene where Boogie was explaining that he couldn’t connect with books because the characters don’t look like him and his friend says, keep trying. Also loved the scene where Boogie states that Holden is privileged because he has the time to complain and not have responsibilities.Truth! My son is half Vietnamese half white and we need more Asian representation in the media.

This movie grew on me. I wasn't fully invested initially but the character development deepened over the course of the movie and I cared more about what happened in the end. There are interesting microthemes that complement the plot and make for a more robust film experience.

\rIt's entertaining while shedding the light on some crucial dynamics and messages.
