I found this movie compelling. I truly feel for Mohamedou and the time & freedom he lost. The terrible atrocities that were committed were truly heinous. The fact that Guantanamo is still open and holding people nearly 20 years after 9/11 is shameful. I hope that many people see The Mauritanian and pressure the government to finally close it. The cast of this movie were all perfect. Tahar Rahim gave a powerful performance as Mohamedou. Jodie Foster turns in another strong performance. Benedict Cumberbatch does a much better southern accent than his usual nasal American accent. A different role than we’re used to seeing him in.

I can firmly say as an American citizen and service member of 18 years, I am horrified at the lengths that we as a human race have gone to vilify those, of what we are so sure. I only hope these and other avenues to truthful behavior, set free those who remain. Thank you for putting this effort into bringing his and others' stories to the light of day.
