I haven't read the book, so I can't say how faithful the movie is, but I found the film to be disjointed. The movie often seemed to jump from big scene to big scene without any flow or point to it.

It was an art-house style movie with a lot of potential but did not deliver a coherent story. Character inconsistencies made it difficult to connect with the characters on a meaningful level.
