Very good! I just wish that some details from the true story made it into the film (the film felt downplayed compared to the actual story) and I wish there was a little bit more of the friendship growing between Ann Atwater and C.P. Ellis.

I thought that it was an interesting replay of the 1971 time period in North Carolina. Not the picture that I had in mind.

While I enjoyed the performances in this emotional drama - I expected a deeper character development of the two leads, as well as greater emphasis on C.P. Ellis' emotional turmoil, transformation, and acceptance. Sam Rockwell was good, but I was expected a more hardcore portrayal of the leader the KKK. Enjoyed Henson's fiery performance, but her manicured brows & body size were distracting, after seeing what the REAL Ann Atwater looked like. Also Rockwell's body language and mannerisms were that of a much larger man... but seen odd for a man of his size. I wish the studio had taken a chance on two lesser know actors to portray Ann & CP - who better match the actual size, statue, hair, and gait or Atwater and Ellis. To me neither actor really look like either one. Despite this, I found the story and historical aspect interesting enough to recommend. It actually makes you want to seek out more information and see footage of the actual events. View them: https://www.newsobserver.com/living/liv-columns-blogs/past-times/article85852732.html
