It was a weird story line and didn't really go anywhere. The climax was a let down.

It was a disappointing adaptation of a sprawling and poetic novel. All the elements of a prestigious film were there, but they didn’t come together in any compelling way. The editing was where the film didn’t work for me, as the choice to break up the linearity of the story made it hard to get invested, and scenes just came and went with little relation to the next. An unfortunate misfire.

Very slow build up and i fell asleep early on. At times, the movie got really quiet where you could hear a pin drop. I woke up mid way and still could make sense of the characters even though there was a few time jumps. Overall, the ending was good and Theo's obsession with the painting made sense but only at the very end.

It's long and kind of boring and doesn't make a lot of sense because it jumps around all over the place. The acting is good so that's a waste (though Finn Wolfhard's accent is so bad).
