It was a deeply engrossing and profoundly moving film. The performances were top notch, and the story Wilson scripts was both heartbreaking and compelling.

I judge movies based on the emotions it stirs within you. Fences definitely takes you on an emotional journey using a small, very talented cast, and a simple set. The focus is simply the dialogue amongst complex characters displaying frustrations in their lives and the barriers and inequality faced by African-Americans. This may well be the best movie of the year and Denzel and Viola were great!

The richness of the characters and screenplay was so refreshing and moving. I got even more absorbed into the story with each climactic moment.
