Mr. Del Toro returns to intimate, domestic, creepy-crawly form with The Shape of Water. While not entirely as on point to its moods as Devil's Backbone and Pan's Labyrinth, The Shape of Water brings us into a world where the small stories matter, adults live fleshed out (lonely, yearning) lives, and the Monsters are complicated creatures; they are among us to fear to awe and to love.

A fascinating and entertaining take on the Beauty and the Beast theme. The acting especially by Hawkins was quite good.

A cross between Avatar, The Abyss but what a great love story.

It was definitely a situation only a movie could capture. It had more romance than most horror films--deserved the R rating and the villain deeply disturbed me. I left the theater with questions and would not like to own it or watch it again.
