too much. Seems as if the film makers wanted to cram in as many geeky tropes as possible (from the 'garbage chute escape' from Star Wars, to Jessica Rabbit, to tall graceful pearlescent Avatar like beings, to RoboCop and Transformer killer robots controlled by a traitor military). The two (much too young) protagonists were simply unbelievable in their roles as seasoned 'cops', and Valerian's character smacks of being drawn directly from Willam T. Riker, right down to his inability to commit, and love of his job. He goes from 'lady's man' to totally committed to her, in too little time. Simply didn't believe that either. The female (Loreline) character was a bit more fun to watch. She was the sassy, sarcastic version of Hermione Granger, always there to think their way out of trouble. The shape shifting alien had some good lines. But too little time to develop her 'crush' and heartfelt feelings for Valerian. The special effects WERE stunning. And the scenery / costumes / sets were beautiful. There is nothing CGI can not do any more. But did you have to stuff EVERY 'trick in the book' into one film? If you take the film as a live action comic book, and view it as a 'Lost in Space' kind of romp, it's farcical feel was right on the button. But it tried to become dark and 'meaningful', and that's when it lost it's momentum, and my interest

It visually was interesting, but lack in storyline. Some of the dailogue was a little cheesy and very much repetitive. Very dramatic at times and over the top. Some of the deaths had no purpose and were kind of pointless.Interesting characters that are easy to connect and love. Specifically the non humans. The chemistry between the mains were okay. But, the marriage thing seem unfitting because they look and sound to young for it.

I found it to be boring, at least 30 minutes too long and the actors had no emotion. Sounded like they were reading from the script. Very disappointing.

The movie was horrible. It was all graphics but no story. The two main leads didn't draw me in or made me care for them. The story was half done and predictable. I would have walked out and asked for my money back if I had paid for it. It kind of dragged on and at some points became boring quite honestly. The main male lead was like watching Kenny Reeves and Josh Harnett combined in a movie but with no good story to keep you intrigued. The female lead wasn't even needed. She was just there as a pretty girl just for the sake of being there. She really didn't serve a purpose. They could have left Rihanna out all together. The death scene was painful...to watch. Terrible acting and story line.
