great film I loved the balance of historical figures and events. it was not another cliche "I have a dream" film but a real and well made adaptation of an important movement. not too soft for Hollywood yet not overly grotesque like a "django" type production

A stunning performance by David Olelowo as MLK Jr., Selma transports us back in time to a relevant and theatrical behind the scenes look at the struggle of and within the civil rights movement. Centered on the story leading up to the march from Selma to Montgomery, opposing viewpoints and players weave a story of government resistance to changing mores in the South with MLK as it's catalyst.
