Had its moments but they were few and long between. Hard to understand. Almost needed subtitles.Too long.

The marketing for the film makes it to be much more of an action thriller when the film is much more of a political thriller. Jackie Chan got top billing and is on the poster when he isn't in the film all that much.I feel the film was doing a bit too much. Learning at the end that the film is based on a book makes a lot of sense in retrospect. It feels like there are too many subplots going on. There were many scenes that felt really heavy with the amount of exposition. I felt like Jackie Chan's character was in the film too much or not enough.The filmmaking was fantastic. Jackie Chan and Pierce Brosnan gave excellent performances. The direction was really good and kept things engaging.Overall, the film has an interesting story but I feel the adaptation doesn't do enough to translate the book to the film. This is a gut feeling as I haven't read the book. I can't recommend the film to others because I feel the marketing of the film doesn't sell what the movie is actually about.
