The movie was very good. The acting was excellent as was the cinematography.That said, I think the film’s backers believe it has a chance to win an Oscar, thereby making a them lot of money. And, because you can't win an Oscar if nobody watches your movie, I think the film’s creators soft-pedaled its depiction of black-white conflict in order to sell more tickets.

Loved it except I expected the retaliation to be from the Police not the gang. I saw no need for her to say Khalil worked for the gang because it had nothing to do with the shooting and secondly she hadn't seen him in years, so when asked was he a drug dealer her response should have been " I don't know what he does because I hadn't seen him years until that night". She brought danger to herself.

It was a story that needed to be put on the big screen.

I cried through the whole, but It was really good. Something bothered me about the end... Maybe because they wrapped everything up in a nice package. I didn't like that.
