Very enjoyable film. Good depiction of motion picture production in a studio- or in this case wartime government-run environment. Interestingly self-referential in the sense that the plot of the movie follows a story arc as described early on by the male lead. A number of cliches, but well handled. Very delightful use of the mechanism of scriptwriting (the basic job of the main characters) to further the plot's romantic development near the end. All in all, a very interesting movie about movie-making that ties all its loose ends up in a nice package.

This was a great movie demonstrating how strong women stepped up during the war and the resulting confidence and passion they gained. Poignant, but not too sad. Clever, but not too funny. You come away with a few lasting emotions: the sense of what it was like living in a city where bombing can happen at anytime, the courage of women to fill men's roles and overcome misogyny, and the intense feelings of love and loss. Plus...the actors were fun to watch! Very good!

Apart from being a little too long, I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. The characters were warm and real, with both strengths and flaws. I appreciated the ending, which had me leaving the theatre with a smile. Would definitely recommend Their Finest to those who enjoy thinking films that look to emotionally connect with the audience.

I love movies with Bill Nighy and this movie did not disappoint. He delivered a stellar performance. I give this movie 4 stars..I too love movies and have been called a dreamer. Dreamers can change the world! I will recommend this movie to all friends and family...a funny slightly different look at a difficult time in British history.
