This was the first movie that actually captured what it would be like to have no hearing. The sound engineers did an excellent job of distorting the sounds to allow for better understanding. It also did a good job of showing how the deaf community is a happy community, a parallel community to the hearing one. As said in the movie, they do not see their deafness as a disability. They live equally important and fulfilling lives, and in the case of Ruben, it is a process to get there, but wonderful when they do.

Wonderful movie. I enjoyed it. I would certainly improve on the framing of people's hands but other than that it was a great insight to change and self-acceptance and had a good representation of the Deaf community.
