Whether or not this is a sequel to FRANCIS HA, MISTRESS AMERICA stands alone as a 21st century salute to DESPERATELY SEEKING SUSAN, too. Gerwig & Kirke make a fine pairing, pulling off the sanely/insanely, borderline fever-dream dialog. Always a pleasure to see Erbe on the screen, no matter how slim the supporting role.

It is very entertaining and inspiring. It shows a character that is real and exists anywhere at this day and age. People struggling to make it some how and trying so hard to keep motivated. It is funny, lot's of surprising situations and insightful. I did not understand the character of the old friend that accepts to give her money, and I was not convinced that the old girl friend would admit to have stolen her idea. That whole situation seems forced to me.
