The casting was terrible. Young Theodore doesn’t have enough on camera presence, as well as theodore’s Fiancé. They needed movie stars for this film and Nicole Kidman shined.

The movie was slow throughout the film and it was way too long. It was longer than it needed to be.

It's an interesting story. I found it dragged a bit, but was worth seeing.

It's an ambition worth praising that the director tried his best to adopt the book into this motion picture as detailed as possible. However, the plot of "The Goldfinch" turned out to be overstuffed and way too long for audiences to keep up. I'll probably recommend this movie just for the performances from Nicole Kidman and Jeffery Wright, and the astounishing cinematography by Roger Deakins.
