My Best Friend's Exorcism or: How Amazon Studios Danced Back at Stranger Things\r\rIt's cute that they tried (?).\rI know that this is based on a book (from 2016), but the 80s backdrop (& CONSTANT references so you don't forget it's the 80s) often seems like an excuse to have character dialogue full of stuff we're not allowed to say anymore

I'm not sure if it was intended to be somewhat of a parody/spoof on 80s horror movies or not? Like it's a so bad it's good type of movie? Some of the scenes felt a little too similar to the exorcist. Spontaneous projectile vomiting can only be done so many times. \rI didn't hate it, especially if there's still some editing to be done, but it wasn't a favorite of mine on first viewing. I'll give it another watch once it comes out though!

The tone was kinda off. There were times where the jokes were funny in theory but something held it back, and I didn’t enjoy those moments as much as a result.

A series would have been better because a lot was left out from the book. Overall a good movie for fans of 80s aesthetic and teen movies. I wish practical effects were used instead of cgi.
