Better than expected. The movie illustrates the importance of BBC standing up for injustice. While the topic is specific to black versus white police violence, it can be relatable to many instances. It inspires the audience to speak up and teach our young and all ages to love one another.

It's a great family movie to take your teens/pre-teens to see. It's really an eye opener for what's going on in the world.

Having read Angie Thomas' "The Hate U Give" and having also taught it recently to my secondary 4 students, I loved the film but it didn't come close to what I expected. As a stand alone adaptation, the film was beautiful and Starr's character truly illustrated the grief and conflicted conscience that it should. The acting was great, but some of the scenes and plot points did not get added in.
