The movie was ok, definitely room for improvement.Visually it was beautiful!!!Butt it lacked explanation of the main characters backgrounds. Also, with all the technology and futuristic kicks I expected better action scenes. What you seen in the previews were the defining moments.I would definitely watch again in 4k in my home and it will prolly get better with time.

The visual effects were great. The fact that practical effects were used when feasible, and CGI was used to show impossible and highly imaginative creations was a nice change. It was CGI used properly. The giant flea market in another dimension was a really cool and trippy sequence. The acting was also fine considering the script they were given. The dialogue was hokey and full of cliches. The plot felt more like a predictable video game than a strong narrative film. It probably would've worked if marketed more for children, but then there is a striptease in the middle of the film. I know the director/writer also did The Fifth Element which had a strong "love" theme also, but making the two leads romantic interests was unnecessary. I've only read the first two volumes of this comic, but that's not a character arc that I noticed. It kind of diminished the female lead's part instead of just making her his strong and competent partner. The 3D was good. Probably one of the more enjoyable 3D experiences I've had at a film. I'd recommend people see it in the theater for that, but not set their expectations for something as great as The Fifth Element. This falls more into the Lucy realm for this director. Fine, not bad, but sub-par considering the bar he set for himself.

Dane DeHaan's acting was atrocious and Ethan Hawke's character was a waste of time as two bit pimp in his 5-minute scene (which tried to pass itself as a Chris Tucker/Ruby Rod humorous and just ended up being pathetic) . The story line was somewhat confusing and did not give you a serious understanding of what was going on throughout the movie and what motivated the characters to act and behave the way they did.Cara Delevingne and the rest of the cast, however, were intriguing and the movie overall was visually stunning. The visual effects behind the Pearls, their world Mul and the rest of the extraterrestrial beings was nothing short of amazing. Luc Besson is trying to recreate the phenomenon and following behind The Fifth Element but I don't think this movie will do it for him.

Cinematically this was a good movie. Otherwise it was just okay. Sorry! If I had paid to see this movie I would really be pissed. Perhaps it will be better received by teens.
