Great movie for its jumps and thrills. There's a creeping tension throughout that just won't die. The directing is phenomenal and as a result the film is at all times eerily disorienting. I really enjoyed everything about it visually and sonically, but I was hoping for a more character-driven story.

Not quite a sequel, not quite a reboot, this movie tries to recreate the shot on a shoestring POV feel of the movie that made the "found footage" horror movie its own genre. Unfortunately, we end up learning no more about the Blair Witch or what's going on in that forest outside of Burkitsville than we did from the first movie 20 years ago.

Unpopular opinion time: As someone who's never been a huge original Blair Witch fan I think this is the better movie. It really cleaned up a lot of the pacing issues from the first, kept the action moving, and had scary moments and atmosphere.

I like the concept but all the camera movement made me dizzy
